A Life of Community Involvement
Service has been part of my life from my student years through adulthood.
Community service has been part of my life alongside my education, career, and family. Over the years, I've volunteered in different settings and for different reasons, but each experience has reinforced something I continue to believe: contributing our time connects us to people and communities in ways we might never otherwise experience.

Student Volunteer - Orphanage in Guatemala
Volunteering at a children's home in Guatemala in 1989 gave me an early lesson in perspective, gratitude, and the extraordinary determination people can demonstrate in difficult circumstances.
Adult Volunteer - Food Pantry
Years later, food pantry volunteering has shown me another side of service: ordinary tasks performed consistently can help provide dignity, nutrition, and greater food security for people in our community.
